A Day With FSU Lesbian: How I'm Two Degrees of Separation from Jimmy Carter
Gimmick accounts, we all love them, some of us hate them too probably, those “some of us” don’t know how to have fun but alas.
Nickel Boys
From the time I’m writing this, Ramell Ross’s Nickel Boys adapted from Colson Whitehead’s novel of the same name has begun its wide distribution. Bluntly, the film is about the systemic and abusive process of demeaning and commodifying those with darker skin.
The Substance is Sad
The Substance came out last September, I caught it in theaters on the second week of its release. Because of my delayed watch, I came walking into the theater with a mind clouded by my friends' reactions to the film a week prior.
A Queer Person’s Guide to My Favorite Canon and Fanon LGBTQ+ Characters in Animation
In recent years, LGBTQ+ representation in animation has been getting better and better. Queer characters in mainstream media are becoming front and center, especially with shows such as The Owl House or Steven Universe, but it is nowhere near perfect.
The Glenaissance: On Glen Powell’s Rise to Stardom
The release of Twisters (2024) this past summer sparked a cultural phenomenon, full of pop-country hits, cowboy hats, and an increase in interest in meteorology. All of these effects, though, pale in comparison to the whirlwind (some may say twister-like) rise of lead actor Glen Powell.
Why Everyone Should Watch The Mitchells vs. The Machines at Least Once

"Create a world without malice, and full of beauty."
Much has been said about the works of Hayo Miyazaki.
The Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie: Scarily Inaccurate to the Franchise
Five Nights at Freddy’s is a franchise with one of the most expansive stories in the video game sphere. The original game was released in 2014 and has since expanded into a franchise with multiple games, books, and now movies.
An Ode to Farming Simulators
The first game I ever owned myself was Harvest Moon DS: Sunshine Islands. I was beyond excited about what most people regarded as a decidedly mediocre game. But, for once, I could play something as obsessively as I wanted, not subjected to my brother’s occasional whims of sharing.
AstroBot: The Tiny Robot That's Stolen My Heart
"AstroBot isn’t a Playstation ad, It’s a love letter to its properties."
When AstroBot’s first trailer dropped, I debated whether or not to purchase the game.
The Devil Wears Prada as an Exploration of Cult Culture
When you think about David Frankel’s The Devil Wears Prada, perhaps you think of the star-studded cast. Maybe it’s the iconic fashion that comes to mind. If you’re me, you’re already three quotes and half a laugh deep into the sharp humor.
Why Vampire Media Will Always Suck Us In
Vampires have been sinking their (not so metaphorical) fangs into the human imagination for centuries and show no signs of stopping anytime soon.
I Saw the TV Glow: Pop Culture and the Queer Experience
“This isn’t how life is supposed to feel”. I Saw the TV Glow has received multiple reviews from those who thought it was “an odd little movie” to “a film with a voice so distinctly it's own”.
My Short Personal History with Faye Webster
I had never heard of who Faye Webster was until mid-2020 when a friend from high school recommended me her breakout album, Atlanta Millionaires Club.
